What are Waste Compactors?

What is a Waste Compactor

Waste compactors compress waste materials thus cutting down the amount of space the waste takes up. For example, a portable waste compactor can contain many times its volume of waste compared to a skip, resulting in less collections and reduced disposal costs.

The benefits a waste compactor can bring:

  • Time savings and increased business efficiency
  • Improved waste management
  • Improvements within the working environment
  • Reduced waste collection costs

Extensive Range of Waste Compactors for Sale

Mardon Recycling Machinery boasts a varied range of portable and static waste compactors for sale, lease or hire.

Portable Compactors

Portable Compactors are available in chain lift, also named ‘skip lift’ compactors, or roll-on/roll-off / hook lift. Chain lifts are normally supplied as smaller machines and can be easily transported by skip lift vehicles. Roll-on/roll-off compactors are picked up using the hooks and are typically larger machines and require suitably equipped trucks for transporting.

Static Compactors

Static compactors are compactors designed and manufactured for use with cardboard, plastics and general waste. They are designed to stay on your site and when the container is full, it is taken away for emptying and a replacement bin is put into position. The compactors are available in a range of sizes dependent on the volume of material the machine will be processing.

We sell a range of RamPak compactors including a drum press, bag press and granulator, as well as the more common static and portable versions.

There are many different types of Waste Compactors, to suit every requirement. If you are looking to improve your waste management systems or want to know more about our range of Waste Compactors, please contact us.

Our Waste Compactor range includes…

The Benefits of Renting a Waste Baler

Many businesses up and down the country now understand the importance of recycling and managing the levels of waste produced. This has resulted in more and more businesses looking at ways to effectively deal with their waste.

What is a Waste Baler?

A waste baler will bundle together recyclable materials ready to be sent onto a recycling company, many of which will pay you for the privilege of taking away your waste!

They come in a wide range of sizes from compact pieces of equipment that can be used by a single person, right up to large almost industrial balers which can be used on a significant volume of waste.

What are the Benefits of a Waste Baler?

It can increase the amount that you recycle – If something is easier for us, then there is a good chance we will do it more often. This is true for recycling and disposing of waste. Using a baler means that it’s never been simpler or quicker to recycle, encouraging you to do it even more often.

It gives you a tidier and cleaner working environment – As waste that has been baled is smaller, you will feel the benefit of a cleaner and tidier working environment. In turn, this will improve your H&S by reducing fire risk, trip hazards, and vermin to name but a few. Something that everyone can benefit from.

It can reduce your costs – Using one of our fully automatic balers can greatly reduce your labour costs and free your staff up to work on other business requirements.

You will become more environmentally friendly – Distributing baled material uses much less fuel due to reduced number of trips needed, therefore helping to create a sustainable future and reduce your carbon footprint.

Why Rent a Waste Baler?

So, now you know that a baler can be a great addition to any business which produces waste, you may wonder whether it is better to rent or buy the equipment.

We think that for many businesses, renting a baler is a better option; and here is why

You can get modern equipment

If you buy your baling or compacting equipment, then you may end up purchasing a lower quality model to save money. Our rental equipment our new machines and our rental agreements include full maintenance within the price, meaning you have nothing to worry about as we keep the machines in tip top condition.

It can save you money

It can be costly to buy baling equipment outright and a burden on your cash flow in one lump sum. By renting from Mardon, you can spread the cost evenly throughout the term of the agreement which allows you to budget your cash flow easily.

Renting reduces your tax bill

The monthly rental payments are a tax deductable expense which comes off your profit and loss account, meaning less tax to pay. Speak to your accountant for advice on your businesses tax benefits of renting.

It gives you a chance to try out the equipment

You may not be sure whether buying a baler is going to be the right choice for your business in the long term and you may be uncertain about investing a large sum initially. By renting a baler, you can see whether it works for your business and see the cost saving opportunities it gives you!

So, to look at a range of rental and outright purchase packages available why not look at Mardon Balers website or give us a call? We have a wide range of options to consider as well as stock equipment and packages that suit a range of different needs. We also have a stock of second-hand equipment available for shorter term hires.

We can also give you advice on what would be best-suited machinery to you and your requirements, so get in touch on 01769 572191 or complete our online form and see how you can transform your waste use and disposal in your business.

Why every business should be recycling

Recycling is something that every household knows they should do. Whether it is cardboard, plastic or even composting, there are a variety of ways that you can have a positive impact on the environment and the world around you.

However, it isn’t only the general public that should be paying attention to recycling; businesses also have a duty to making sure that they have an eco-friendly waste disposal strategy. To help you on your way we have put together a guide to recycling and why it is important for businesses.

What can you recycle as a business?

When it comes to recycling there are things that you can recycle and things that you can’t. Hazardous waste, for instance, cannot be recycled. The materials that you can recycle are:

  • Cardboard
  • Paper
  • Glass
  • Plastics
  • Bricks, rubble, and wood
  • Metal
  • Soil and garden waste

All of these materials can be easily recycled, often on site, which means there really is no reason not to introduce a recycling policy in your business.

If this isn’t enough to tempt you into taking the plunge, then we have put together some of the best benefits of recycling.

It cuts down on waste in landfills

When you recycle products you are stopping them from ending up in a landfill. Instead, these waste materials can be re-used or re-purposed. Not only does this mean that landfills are filling up slower, but that pollution created by these sites is reduced, lowering the damage caused to the environment.

It gives you a green image

The world around us has become a much greener place of late; this means that any businesses who do not have some kind of recycling policy may end up being viewed in a negative light. If you are a business who is aware of their own impact on the environment, then there is a good chance that you will be viewed as a business whom customers want to use and other companies want to trade with. A great benefit for you!

It protects natural resources

One of the biggest benefits of recycling is that it re-uses resources rather than taking resources that can be found around the natural environment. This means that we are cutting down on our use of the raw materials that are steadily running out.

It is easy and simple

When it comes to your employees, recycling is simply a case of popping materials in a bin. You can ensure that appropriate bins are placed around your premises, usually in kitchens or communal areas. These bins can then be emptied on regular intervals and collected by your local authority ready to take away to be recycled. What could be easier than that?

Recycling is a fantastic way to cut down on your waste usage, whether you are a small, medium or large business.

Not only will it benefit the environment, but it can benefit your business too. Whether it is being recognised as a company who takes the environment seriously, or simply feeling great about yourself; there really is no reason not to recycle!

You may or may not be aware but all of our range of balers are able to bale cardboard so the real question is, which baler is most beneficial to your particular business? Well, this depends on a range of factors but the main question when deciding which cardboard baler is the best fit for you is – “what do you want achieve from your waste management”?

Business’s with small volumes and just want to reduce the amount of recyclable cardboard they send to landfill then any machine from our 40 to a 200 will do this job for them. Mardon help promote safety to Children

Mardon Charty Blog header

Mardon Recycling Machinery Ltd are committed to supporting our local community and for the last 2 years we have been sponsoring the CSEF (Children’s Safety Education Foundation). From the money they receive from us and other similar minded businesses in the community, they promote safety to children of school age, in the form of books, which are also in digital format meaning that all classes and children have the opportunity to use them. The books are bright and colourful to entice the children to read them and are donated to a school of our own choice. So far we have supported Chulmleigh Primary School and Ashleigh C Of E Primary School.

Mardon help promote safety to Children 1Mardon help promote safety to Children 2Mardon help promote safety to Children

This year, Natalie (Finance Director) and Lin (Servicing Co-ordinator) went to visit the South Molton United C of E Junior School to meet with the Head Teacher Mr O’Donnell and some of the students. We presented the school with some lovely books about safety and life skills, which the children and teachers are very excited to start using and said “the books will tie in lovely with the ‘Life Skills’ topic they are currently working on.”

Whilst being safety books, which deal with some uncomfortable situations that any of us could be faced with, they have been made in such a fun way that teachers and the children will really enjoy using them. There are lots of fun quizzes, spot the hazards and discussion topics to encourage interactive learning in the classroom as well as individual enjoyment.

The books we presented to the school include:

  • DeeDee (young children’s fire safety)
  • Fire Awareness (for slightly older children)
  • Anti-bullying (guidance on what is bullying, what effects it has, why it happens and how to deal with it)
  • Play Safe (awareness of the dangers of water and transport systems, playing safely at home and outside)
  • Respect – your life, your choice (for more senior children about choices they may need to make now and in the future

We really hope the children and teachers enjoy these books and look forward to hearing feedback from them.
